Terms Of Service
GambitBlock terms
Effective September 19, 2026
These terms govern the GambitBlock Chrome extension, website, account features, and any Pro subscription offered by GambitBlock.
Agreement And Operator
GambitBlock is operated from Japan by an individual operator. These terms form an agreement between you and that operator. Legal operator details are available as described in the Seller Disclosure. By installing the extension, creating an account, or purchasing Pro, you agree to these terms and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
Eligibility
You must be at least 16 to create an account. If you are under the age of legal majority where you live, a parent or guardian must approve your use and make any purchase for you. You must provide accurate account and billing information and use the service in compliance with applicable law.
The Service
GambitBlock is a focus tool that blocks selected websites and uses chess challenges before temporary access. It is not parental-control, security, medical, or emergency software. Browser behavior, permissions, updates, other extensions, device settings, and technical failures can affect blocking. You remain responsible for your choices and device use.
License
We grant you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use GambitBlock for its intended purpose, subject to these terms and Chrome Web Store rules. We and our licensors retain all rights in the service, software, design, trademarks, and content not expressly granted to you.
Accounts And Security
You are responsible for access to your email account, devices, and GambitBlock sessions. Do not share sign-in links, extension link codes, or session tokens. Tell us promptly if you suspect unauthorized access. We may revoke sessions or require reauthentication to protect accounts and the service.
Acceptable Use
You may not misuse GambitBlock, interfere with its operation, probe or bypass its security, access another person's account, automate abusive requests, reverse engineer it except where applicable law expressly permits, use it to violate law or third-party rights, or resell the service without written permission.
Free And Pro Features
Free features are available without payment. Pro includes blocking schedules, hard-mode controls, daily activity counters, and your current streak, as described on the pricing page. Features may evolve, but we will not materially reduce a prepaid Pro period without a reasonable substitute, credit, or refund where required by law.
Subscriptions And Renewal
The price, billing interval, currency, included features, applicable taxes, and any trial or promotion are shown before you confirm payment. Unless checkout says otherwise, Pro is a recurring monthly subscription that renews automatically and is charged by Stripe at the start of each billing period until canceled.
By purchasing, you authorize recurring charges using your selected payment method. GambitBlock, not Google, Chrome, or Stripe, is the seller responsible for the subscription. Stripe is the payment processor.
Cancellation And Pro Access
You can cancel through Manage billing on the GambitBlock account page or by contacting [email protected]. Cancel before the next renewal to avoid another charge. Unless law or checkout terms require otherwise, cancellation stops future renewal and Pro remains active through the end of the billing period already paid for. At that point the account returns to Free.
Deleting or uninstalling the extension does not by itself cancel a subscription.
Price Changes And Failed Payments
We may change future subscription prices with advance notice required by law. A new price applies no earlier than your next renewal after the notice period, and you may cancel before it takes effect. If a payment fails, Stripe may retry it and we may suspend Pro until payment succeeds.
Refunds And Consumer Rights
Except where required by law or stated in a specific offer, charges already made are non-refundable for a change of mind after digital access begins. Contact support promptly about duplicate charges, technical inability to access paid features, or another billing error.
Nothing in these terms excludes a refund, withdrawal right, conformity remedy, cancellation right, or other protection that cannot lawfully be waived. If EEA or UK law gives you a withdrawal period, any request to begin service during that period and its consequences will be presented separately where required. Japanese consumer protections, including protections against unfair terms, remain unaffected.
Third-Party Services
GambitBlock relies on services such as Chrome, Google, Stripe, Cloudflare, and Resend. Their terms and privacy policies apply to their services. We are not responsible for third-party sites you choose to block or visit, or for outages and changes outside our reasonable control.
Availability And Changes
We may update, repair, secure, suspend, or discontinue parts of GambitBlock. We do not promise uninterrupted or error-free operation. If we permanently discontinue a prepaid Pro service, we will provide any refund or other remedy required by law.
Suspension And Termination
You may stop using GambitBlock at any time, subject to separately canceling Pro. We may suspend or terminate access for material breach, fraud, abuse, security risk, nonpayment, or legal necessity. Where practical and lawful, we will give notice and an opportunity to fix the issue. Terms that by nature should survive termination, including payment obligations, intellectual property, disclaimers, and liability limits, will survive.
Disclaimers
To the extent permitted by law, GambitBlock is provided "as is" and "as available." We disclaim implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not guarantee that every distraction will be blocked, that settings cannot be changed or bypassed, or that use will improve productivity. Mandatory warranties and guarantees remain unaffected.
Limitation Of Liability
To the extent permitted by law, GambitBlock will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or lost-profit damages. Our total liability arising from the service will not exceed the amount you paid GambitBlock during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.
These limits do not apply where prohibited by law, including liability that cannot be limited for fraud, intentional misconduct, gross negligence, death or personal injury, or violation of mandatory consumer rights. A clause that is invalid under Japan's Consumer Contract Act or another applicable consumer law will apply only to the maximum lawful extent.
Governing Law And Disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Japan, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Courts in Tokyo, Japan will have jurisdiction where the law permits. If you are a consumer, this choice does not remove mandatory protections or access to courts that apply in your country of residence. Please contact support first so we can try to resolve a dispute informally.
Changes To These Terms
We may update these terms as the service or law changes. We will post the effective date and provide advance notice of material changes where required. Changes will not retroactively remove rights from a paid period. Continuing to use the service after updated terms take effect means you accept them, except where the law requires express consent.
General
If a provision is unenforceable, the rest remains effective and the provision will be limited to the lawful extent. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not transfer this agreement without our consent; we may transfer it as part of a business reorganization or sale, subject to applicable notice and privacy requirements.
